Rafters Eye Away Sweep in Madison

Rafters aim for third straight win

Madison, Wis- The Rafters received another outstanding pitching performance last night as Jack Riley (UConn) carved the Mallards for seven scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory this evening at the Duck Pond. Today the Rafters look to complete the sweep as they aim to get back over .500. They are currently in sixth place in the Nortwoods League South division, but only 3 ½ games separate them from 2nd place. With four teams making the playoffs from the division in the 2015 season, overall record is more important then ever.

Jay Peters (UW-Milwaukee) will make his first start for the Rafters this afternoon. He will be opposed by the Coastal Carolina right-hander Andrew Beckwith. The Rafters are winners of two straight games, bith wins coming in different ways. The offense stole the show in La Crosse Friday, while pitching and defense was the story for the Rafters in yesterday’s win. This will be the final regular season game played in Madison this summer for Wisconsin Rapids.

The Rafters then return home for a day-night doubleheader against the Eau Claire Express to conclude the first half of the Northwoods League 2015 season. Tickets are available for all remaining Rafters home games, call 715-424-5400 or go to www.raftersbaseball.com.
