Rafters Host Fond du Lac in Friday Action
Wisconsin Rapids attempts to start 3-0 at home for the first time in team history
 
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – In an attempt to make more history Friday night, the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters host the Fond du Lac Dock Spiders at Witter Field. The Rafters have a chance to start the home portion of the schedule 3-0 for the first time in team history.
 
In the past seven years, the team has started the home section of play with a 2-0 record in just one other season. The last time came when the Rafters opened up with such a mark was last year, beating the Green Bay Bullfrogs and Wisconsin Woodchucks.
 
The Rafters dropped their first road game on Thursday night against the Dock Spiders in a 4-1 loss at Herr-Baker Field. Notre Dame product Eric Gilgenbach paced the Fond du Lac offense with a two-run home-run in the bottom of the fourth inning. Wisconsin Rapids lone run came on a solo drive in a pinch-hit at-bat by Christian Jones.
 
Scott Kapers continues to back-pick runners on base this year, recording his third of the season on Thursday night against the Dock Spiders. On the offensive end, Jake Guenther stole his third base, recording one in each game of the season.
 
On the mound today for the Rafters is TJ Fetters from DMACC. The freshman started eight games in the spring, pitching to a 2-2 record with a 4.91 ERA in 36.2 innings. Fetters makes his first career start tonight with the Rafters, going up against Tyler Jones from McHenry County College. The righty owned a 7-1 spring record, holding an ERA of 2.85 in one start and 10 appearances out of the bullpen.
 
Today at Witter Field is the Advanced Disposal Rosco P. Rafter Championship Trophy Bobblehead Giveaway with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm with coverage of the game on WFHR 1320 AM starting at 6:50 pm.
