Wisconsin Rapids Rafters seek split in game two against Bombers.

 

Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. – The Rafters last night fell to second in the South Division standings, tied with four other teams with a 5-4 record. The now 2-6 Battle Creek Bombers bested the Rafters 8-1 in the first game of their two-game series at Witter Field. The Bombers are still last in the South Division Standings and are 3.5 games back from the leaders, the Madison Mallards.

 

The Bombers racked up eight hits and eight runs last night, recording only one error. The Rafters outhit the Bombers, recording nine hits but only managed one run. Three errors, and pitching difficulty led to the Rafters demise.

 

Last night, Jack-Thomas Wold (UNLV) and Jake Dunham (Northern Illinois) went two for four. Josh Campbell recorded the sole RBI for the Rafters.

 

Taking the mound tonight for Wisconsin Rapid is Ryan Byrd (SIU-Edwardsville). Byrd is 1-0 this season. He started the home opener at Witter Field facing the Woodchucks and pitched 6.0 innings. He punched out seven batters and only walked one in the win

 

Pitching for Battle Creek is Walter Talcott. Talcott has a 1-0 record with the Bombers and has pitched 5.0 innings. He has struck out five batters, walked four and gave up two hits. Talcott has a 1.80 ERA.

 

First pitch is slated for 7:05 pm.
