Rochester, Minn (July 11th, 2013)–Thursday night belonged to the Waterloo Bucks, who scored 20 runs and added another second half win. The Bucks remain undefeated on this side of the schedule and are running over the rest of the league.
In Lakeshore, the Chinooks responded to their first loss of the second half with a dominant performance over Eau Claire. Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) baffled the Express and allowed just three hits over seven shutout innings.
While Lakeshore was rebounding off the end of their streak, another streak unfortunately stayed alive. The Rochester Honkers lost again on Thursday and remain in search of their first second half win.
Waterloo 20, Willmar 7
The Waterloo Bucks continue to roll all over their opponents as they had a huge night on Thursday. The Bucks scored three or more runs four times as they pounded out sixteen hits. Connor McClain (Indiana State) contributed the biggest night for his hometown team with seven RBI.
Lakeshore 7, Eau Claire 0
The Lakeshore Chinooks bounced back from their first loss of the second half by blanking the Eau Claire Express. Starter Jake Johansmeier (Eastern Illinois) dominated on the mound as he shut out the Express over seven innings and allowed just three hits. Harrison Bader (Florida) backed him up with three hits and three RBI.
Duluth 3, Rochester 2
The Huskies pushed the Rochester Honkers to yet another loss in the second half. To this point, the Honkers remain without a win on this side of the schedule. The Huskies got a strong effort from their bullpen on Thursday as they pitched three shutout innings and allowed zero hits.
Green Bay 11, Wisconsin Rapids 8
Despite a light night from Boomer White (TCU), the Bullfrogs still were able to rack up the runs on Thursday. Six different players contributed RBI as the offense collected nine hits and drew nine walks against the Rafters. The Bullfrog pitching staff was able to pull out the win despite surrendering 16 hits.
Alexandria 5, Mankato 2
Hunter Newman (LSU) tossed six innings and allowed just one run in a winning effort on Thursday. Newman also struck out seven batters while allowing just five hits. Michael Barash (LSU) backed his college teammate with a pair of hits and four RBI.
Battle Creek 6, La Crosse 2
Hunter Devall (LSU) joined the group of Tigers with great nights on Thursday. He made the start for Battle Creek and allowed just six hits and one run over 5.2 innings while striking out five batters. Five different Bomber batters contributed RBI in support of Devall to help him get the win.
St. Cloud 7, Thunder Bay 3
The St. Cloud Rox have been able to depend on their offense a lot this season, and Thursday was no different. Tim Colwell (North Dakota State) led the charge with a pair of hits, runs, and RBI in the win. The Rox were able to push across all seven runs without aid of the home run.
Wisconsin 16, Madison 9
The Woodchucks put on an offensive clinic on Thursday in Madison as they attacked early and often. The bottom of Wisconsin’s order was especially deadly as the last three batters combined to go 11/13 with 10 RBI and nine runs scored. Even though the middle of the order had a rough go at things, the ‘Chucks were still able to have a huge night.
