Former St. Cloud River Bat, Robbie Weinhardt, made his Major League debut for the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday night.  Weinhardt came in relief of Max Scherzer (La Crosse) in the eighth with a three run cushion and allowed one run and a hit in his debut against the Baltimore Orioles.  The 24-year-old right-hander hit the first Orioles batter he faced, but induced a double play and a fly out to get out of the eighth inning.

The 10th round pick out of Oklahoma State had been pitching for the Toledo Mudhens before being called up to the Tigers to alleviate their bullpen woes.  While pitching for the Mudhens he had a 1-0 record with a 1.98 ERA in 27.1 innings pitched.

The Pearland, TX native was a member of the 2007 St. Cloud River Bats that won the NWL Championship.  Weinhardt was 3-2 for St. Cloud in 2007 with a 1.75 ERA in 46.1 innings pitched.  He appeared in 16 games and had a 2-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio while opponents only hit .184 of the righty.
