The Northwoods League attracts collegiate baseball prospects from various institutions across the United States. Players from Hawaii, California, Florida, North Carolina and many other states travel to the Midwest every summer to play in the prestigious Northwoods League. The La Crosse Loggers have developed quite the connection to the state of Texas the past few years.

The Loggers have tapped into the talent of one of the nation’s premier college baseball teams, the Texas Longhorns. The Longhorns will be sending two more prospects in 2011 in outfielder Dex Kjerstad and left-handed pitcher Trevor Teykl.

La Crosse, managed by Andy McKay (Sacramento City), has won more regular season NWL games than any other team in the past three seasons. The Longhorns, coached by Augie Garrido who leads Divisions I in wins, have sent five players to the NWL in the past three years with all of them playing in La Crosse. Kjerstad and Tekly will be the 6th and 7th in 2011.
