The Express front office today announced the hiring of Rob Silvers as the team’s next radio broadcaster, replacing Scott Montesano. The 2011 season will mark the first time the Express has had a change in the booth since 2006.

Silvers is no stranger to the Northwoods League, having spent last summer as the broadcaster for the Green Bay Bullfrogs. In addition to his experience in the Northwoods League, the Hastings, Minn. native has a variety of experience in the sports industry. Silvers has spent time as an intramural sports manager, along with serving as a sports columnist and editor during his time attending school at UW-River Falls.

“We are very fortunate to add someone with Rob’s experience in the Northwoods League to our staff,” Express General Manager Andy Neborak said. “I am confident that the experience he has gained in River Falls and with the Bullfrogs will translate into very enjoyable broadcasts for Express fans.”

Silvers is currently the Sports Director for WRFW, 88.7 FM in River Falls. His duties include management, training and scheduling of broadcasters. His work at UW-River Falls earned him the 2011 Wisconsin Broadcasters Association-Student Award as the top play-by-play broadcaster. Silvers is on track to graduate in May of 2012 with a degree in Communication Studies with a concentration in digital film and television.
