Waterloo 6, Wisconsin 4

After a road trip full of defeats the Waterloo Bucks (12-15) returned to the renovated Riverfront Stadium and secured a 6-4 win in a quick game versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks (11-14).  The Waterloo Bucks batting started out strong with Davis Hendrickson (Illinois) and Andrew Ewing (Iowa) getting a triple in the first two innings, respectively.  The Bucks strong hitting was aided by three errors from the Woodchucks. A new player made his debut in this afternoon’s game. Sean Boreman (DMACC), playing third base, had two hits and, in the eighth inning, batted in two runners for the Bucks. These two runs broke the 3-3 tie that ultimately, aided by an additional run in the eighth inning, won the game for the Bucks.

Duluth 1, Alexandria 0

The Duluth Huskies and Alexandria Beetles face on in a thrilling 15 inning game Wednesday night at Wade Stadium, with the Huskies Chris Manship (Kansas) delivering in the bottom of the 15th on a walk-off double to capture the 1-0 victory.  It was the fourth walk-off win for Duluth this season, who moved  into fourth place in the North Division of the NWL at 13-11.  After a Jacob Wise (Arkansas) single in the bottom of the inning, Manship stepped to the plate and drove in t Wise form first on a fly ball to the wall in center field.  Dane Gronewald (Jefferson CC) made the start for the Huskies, and pitched a stellear 7.0 innings, allowing one hit and striking out six batters.  

Brainerd 10, Rochester 4

The Lunker bats came alive against the Honkers. A six run bottom of the 4th inning gave the Lunkers a 10-4 win over the Rochester Honkers Wednesday night at Mills Field. 
Dan Olinger (Minnesota) and Steven Brault (Regis) both had big nights for Brainerd Lakes Area. Olinger was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and three RBIs. Brault also drove in three runs, going 2-for-4.  With the win, the Lunkers move to 15-9 and stay one game back of Mankato in the North Division. The Honkers fall to 9-17.

Battle Creek 5, Eau Claire 4

The Bombers went into extra innings again on Wednesday, but this time pulled out a clutch win over the division-leading Eau Claire Express, 5-4.  In the 11th inning, Jimmy Martinez and Troy White reached base right away, and Redeker came through again, this time belting a fly ball into left field that bounced off the wall, easily bringing Martinez home for the win. Battistelli threw his second excellent start in a row, issuing only three runs through six innings, while Nolan Sanburn threw in his Bombers debut and allowed just a run in three innings. It was closer Kristian Calibuso, however, that got credit for the win in extra innings.

Mankato 6, Thunder Bay 2

The Mankato MoonDogs bounced back from Tuesday night’s loss on Wednesday with a final score of 6-2 at Franklin Rogers Park to take the three-game series from Thunder Bay.  The MoonDogs played a little small-ball in the win. They scored six runs without having a single extra base hit, instead, they used a combination of singles, bunts and stolen bases to advance the runners around the diamond and get runs across the plate. Brennan Moore (Texas Tech) led the MoonDog offense going 2-4 from the plate, scoring two runs and two RBI. Matt Mazzoni (Fresno St.) pitched another great game for the ‘Dogs getting the win. Mazzoni spread out seven Border Cat hits in seven innings of work, while only allowing one run, walking two and stranding nine Thunder Bay base runners.

La Crosse 6, Wisconsin Rapids 3

2,934 came out to Copeland Park on Wednesday night to see the La Crosse Loggers defeat the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters 5-3.  The win was the Loggers third in a row after losing the previous five.  Logger starter, Harrison Cooney (Florida Gulf Coast) struggled yet again, but was fortunate enough to limit the Rafter damage to just one run in 3.2 innings, before being relieved by Jordan Haseltine (San Francisco).  Cooney would allow just the one run on two hits, but would walk five and see ten Rafters reach base before being pulled in the fourth.  Haseltine inherited a bases loaded, two out jam and would manage to get out of by getting the batter to pop out to third.

Green Bay 7, Madison 1

Zak Hermans shut down the best offense in the league again as the Green Bay Bullfrogs won 7-1 on Wednesday night over the Madison Mallards. It is Green Bay’s fifth win in a row. They are now tied for first place with Madison and Eau Claire. Madison entered Wednesday’s game with a league-leading .284 team batting average. Hermans tossed seven innings allowing one run on six hits with seven strikeouts. He gave up an RBI single in the fourth inning and stranded the bases loaded in the seventh. Other than that Hermans was in control in are bound game after he went just 0.1 of an inning in his last start.

Willmar 7, St. Cloud 2

Every Stinger had either an RBI or a run scored in the six-run first inning that helped propel Willmar to a 7-2 victory over the St. Cloud River Bats at Joe Faber Field Wednesday night. Rob Elliott (Bradley), Jason Leblebijian (Bradley) and Jarid Scarafiotti (Stephen F. Austin) all had multi-hit games, while John Haberman (Pacific) had his second multi-RBI game against St. Cloud this season. Elliott and Leblebijian each went 2-for-5 with a run scored. Scarafiotti went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a stolen base.  Tanner Banks (Salt Lake College) improved to 3-0 on the year after only allowing two runs on six hits in 7.1 innings. Banks struck out nine and did not walk a single batter.
