Three runs in their first at bat, coupled with six in their final at bat provided plenty of offense as the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters bested the Green Bay Bullfrogs 10-3 Monday afternoon. Brandon Hohl (Illinois) took care of the insurance, belting his first home run to lead off the frame. After a walk, Josh Cyr (North Alabama) belted a ball over the wall in straight away center for two more. In all, the Rafters racked up five hits as they sent ten to the plate.

Waterloo 2, La Crosse 1

Two unearned runs in the bottom of the first inning for the host Waterloo Bucks turned out to be the difference in an Independence Day pitcher’s duel that was won by the host Bucks over the visiting La Crosse Loggers by a final of 2-1. Loggers starter Jake Stassi (Long Beach State) retired the first two Waterloo batters in the bottom half of the first inning before Cameron Perkins reached on a fielding error by Logger shortstop Tyler Smith (Oregon State).  After Stassi issued a walk, Joel Hutter lifted a fly ball to right field that Dex Kjerstad (Texas) misjudged, allowing two runs to score, the only two runs Waterloo would need. Bucks starter Mike Wisecarver (Nicholls State) was brillant over 7.2 innings, limiting the Loggers to just one run on six hits while striking out four to earn the victory. The lone Logger run came in the eighth when Corey LeVier (San Diego) double in Trentt Copeland (Evansville) after Copeland had laced a two-out single.
