The Bullfrogs came from behind twice against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters on Friday evening to sweep the doubleheader. Green Bay took game one 5-3 and game two 7-4. The sweep improves Green Bay to 32-22 which is the best overall record in the South Division. The’Frogs are 12-9 in the second half and in third place 2.5 games back of the Loggers with 16 games left in the season. In game one Andy Hunter (Gonzaga) started for the ‘Frogs and got off to a tough start allowing three runs in the first inning. After that however he was able to buckle down and he did not allow arun in the final four innings of his six-inning three-run performance. Hunter did not have his best stuff as he relied primarily on his fastball, but he still earned his third win of the year.

In game two the Rafters jumped out to another early lead with two unearned runs in the second inning. A.J. Gaura (Iowa Western CC) settled in from there and did not allow another run as he went five innings and allowed just the two unearned runs. The Bullfrogs put runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings and did not score until the fifth when they put up a six spot

Mankato 12, Brainerd 1

The Mankato MoonDogs swept the Brainerd Lunkers Friday night at Franklin Rogers Park by clobbering the Lunkers 12-1. The MoonDogs scored in eight of the nine innings played, with Whitt Dorsey (South Alabama) continuing his hot hitting ways from the plate. Dorsey going 3-for-4 with a double, a home run, four RBI and two runs. Dorsey now has a five-game hitting streak and has hit safely in seven of his past eight games played.

St. Cloud 3, Duluth 2

Another pitcher’s duel resulted in another Bats win. For the second consecutive start Andy Urban wowed the fans at Joe Faber Field. Urban carried a one hitter into the ninth inning. 
Though Urban could not complete the effort; he departed to a standing ovation after 8.2 innings. The future Creighton Jay earned his fourth win of the season, thanks to a high number of ground ball outs. Urban left with the tying run at the third and two outs in the ninth. Travis Unthank entered to preserve the lead. An epic battle ensued between Unthank and Adam Humes. After 11 pitches, Unthank finally struck out Humes to collect his ninth save of the summer.

Alexandria 5, Thunder Bay 4

Chad Bunting hit a two-run home run with one out in the top of the 9th inning as the Alexandria Beetles came back to beat the Border Cats 5-4 Friday night before 951 fans at Subway Field at Port Arthur Stadium. Casey Seslor (Texas-San Antonio) made the start on the mound for the Cats and pitched 5.1 innings allowing nine hits.  The lefthander gave up three runs with three walks and six strikeouts.

Willmar 8, Rochester 5

Blake Shepherd (Viterbo) hit a three-run homer in the second inning to give the Stingers their first lead of the game, but the Stingers ultimately had to come back from a one-run deficit to earn an 8-5 victory over the Rochester Honkers at Bill Taunton Stadium Friday night. Shepherd finished the game 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBIs. He now has a team-leading eight home runs this season along with 23 RBIs in 32 games. Pat Stover (Santa Clara) also had a three-hit game, reaching base all five times he was at the plate with three singles, two walks and an RBI. Jarid Scarafiotti (Stephen F. Austin), Chris Woolley (Western Nevada College) and Eduardo Gonzalez (Alcorn State) each added two-hit games with one double apiece. Wooley picked up his first two RBIs of the year on a double in the sixth inning to break a 4-4 tie, while Gonzalez increased his league-leading batting average to. 353.

La Crosse 7, Waterloo 5

After racing out to a 6-0 lead through five and one-half innings on Friday night, the La Crosse Loggers held on for a 7-5 victory over the host Waterloo Bucks at Riverfront Stadium. Loggers starter Jake Stassi (Long Beach State) sailed through the first six innings against the Bucks while the Lumbermen tallied runs in thefirst and second innings and then added a pair of runs in both the fifth and sixth innings as well. Dan Child (Oregon State) would then come on and shutdown the Bucks for the final two frames to earn his fourth save of the season and secure the Logger victory.

Madison 6, Wisconsin 3

The Madison Mallards defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks 6-3 Friday night at Athletic Park, completing a two-game sweep. The Mallards, who got the majority of their help from a four-run firs tinning and starter Estevan Uriegas (Texas A&M), are now one game under .500 for the second half of the season. Uriegas (3-1) was lights out for the Mallards, taking control of a Wisconsin offense that scored six runs on 13 hits a night ago. He was able to shake off the rough second inning to go a full seven innings. He allowed just the three runs on six hits, earning his third win of the season. He also walked three and struck out six batters. Tony Bryant (Oregon State) pitched a scoreless eighth for a hold, and Matt Milroy (Illinois) went the ninth to pick up his team-leading fifth save of the season. Aaron Gates (Pepperdine) took the loss for Wisconsin, as he only made it through the first inning. He gave up four runs (three earned) on just the one hit, but walked three in the inning. With the loss, he falls to 0-1 on the season.
