Madison, WI – November 2, 2012. The Madison Mallards are pleased to announce the signing of Thad Frame as their hitting coach for the 2013 season. Frame comes from NAIA Division I Huntington University in Huntington, Indiana where he is in his fourth season as the hitting coach for the Foresters.

“As soon as I accepted the Manager job with the Mallards, I immediately thought we needed to add Thad to our staff,” said Mallards Field Manager Donnie Scott. “Thad will supply our players with a consistent attitude through daily routines and solid work habits. His professional approach and knowledge of the game made it an easy choice.”

Frame spent 2012 as a volunteer assistant at Miami University before returning to his alma mater to continue coaching. He also spent the summer of 2011 as the hitting coach for the Northwoods League Champion Battle Creek Bombers. He partnered with Donnie Scott, now the Mallards manager in coaching the Bombers to the league championship. The Bombers led the NWL in batting average, hitting .278 for the season. He currently oversees strength and conditioning, base running, and recruiting for the Foresters.

“My hitting philosophy tries to keep things very basic and simple,” said Frame. “Hitting can become very complicated and it’s important to remember all of these kids have had tremendous success before arriving in Madison.”

Frame was a four year starter at shortstop for Huntington from 2005-2008 . In his senior season, he batted .325 with three home runs and 32 RBIs. He also stole 20 bases and started 45 out of the 46 games for the Foresters.

“The atmosphere and support that the Mallards receive is second to none in the Northwoods League,” Frame added. “I feel honored to be a part of this class organization and eager to be a part of a winning team in Madison this summer.”

The Mallards are members of the 16-team Northwoods League. The Northwoods League has more teams, plays more games and draws more fans than any other Summer Collegiate League in North America. In 2013 the Northwoods League will celebrate it’s 20th season.
