The Eau Claire Express front office today announced Mix 98.1 as its new radio home for the 2013 season. Beginning May 29, fans will be able to hear the game broadcasts on the radio dial at 98.1 FM, online at www.mix98online.com or on iHeartRadio. The Express will feature an on-air broadcast after spending last season broadcasting games online only.

“We’re extremely excited to be able to get our games back on the radio after being exclusively online last season,” Express General Manager Andy Neborak stated. “It is our hope that this begins a long partnership with Clear Channel to broadcast Express games.”

Long-time Express fan Dale Maloney was one who was happy to see the games go back on the radio dial.

“I’ve supported the team since 2005 and have always enjoyed being able to follow the team on the road by listening to the broadcast,” said Maloney. “I’m sure I am just one of many fans who will enjoy the easy access to the broadcast when the team is on the road or I am not able to catch the game at Carson Park.”

Mix 98.1 is part of the Clear Channel Radio Media+Entertainment family of radio stations which includes: Hot Country B95 (95.1), Classic Rock 92.1, Moose Country 106.7, Sports Radio 1400 and NewsTalk 880. The Express homepage will feature a link on the left side of the page that will connect directly to the Mix 98.1 website for easy access to the online stream.

“We are proud to be the home of the Eau Claire Express on the radio, online and on iHeartRadio. We are the place area sports fans turn to for the best local coverage,” said Clear Channel Media+Entertainment Sports Director Mike Sullivan.

“It’s exciting to have the Eau Claire Express back on their original Clear Channel Media+Entertainment home. I remember producing broadcasts for the first two seasons of the Express on the radio,” stated 1400 WBIZ / 880 WMEQ Production Director Jimmie Kaska. “Our commitment to local athletics now increases to year-round play-by-play coverage of Eau Claire sports with the addition of the Express.”

Returning for his second season as play-by-play announcer is reigning Northwoods League Broadcaster of the Year, Doug Raftery. Doug was hired to the Express full-time staff in early November as the Director of Broadcasting and Media Sales following his first season as broadcaster. Prior to the Express, Doug spent time with the Rockridge Rapids of the Valley Baseball League and the Florence Freedom of the Frontier League.

The Express begin their ninth season of Northwoods League play on May 29, as they take on the Mallards in Madison, Wis. Eau Claire begins its home season on June 2 versus the Wisconsin Woodchucks. First pitch of that contest is scheduled for 5:05 PM. Season tickets and 5-game packs are now available for the 2013 season and single-game tickets are scheduled to go on sale May 1.
