Rochester, Minn (June 13th, 2013)–In Thunder Bay, offenses combined to challenge some of the league’s greatest offensive records. The Rox and Border Cats combined for 36 runs in a standard nine-inning game. To give perspective, the game tied for the most runs in a game in league history and the Rox tied for the most by a single team with 24.

Chris Paul (California) went 4/7 with 4 RBI out of the lead off spot for the Rox. On the other side, the Border Cats drew 12 walks.

In other action, the Lakeshore Chinooks just keep on winning as they defeated the Wisconsin Woodchucks in Wausau on Thursday. David Lucroy (East Carolina) pitched 6.1 innings and allowed only one hit and one run.

St. Cloud 24, Thunder Bay 12

As mentioned earlier, the Rox and Border Cats combined for an incredible offensive night. In total, 36 runs were scored, which ties the record for most runs in a game in Northwoods history.

Lakeshore 4, Wisconsin 1

David Lucroy (East Carolina) led the Chinooks on the mound. He pitched 6.1 innings and allowed only one hit and one run while getting a no-decision. With the game tied going into the 7th, the Chinooks were able to score twice and pull away for the win.

Waterloo 5, Rochester 3

The Bucks surrendered their lead in the top of the 8th but quickly rallied with three of their own in the bottom of the frame to come away with the win. TJ Renda (Alabama State) pitched six innings and allowed only one run. He now has a 1.89 ERA in 19 innings this year.

Madison 4, Wisconsin Rapids 3

Cody Peterson (Madison College) started the game and allowed only one run in four innings. Erik Forgione (Washington) went 3/4 with a home run in the victory, which was his first on the season. The Mallards got ahead early and were able to hold on for the win.

Battle Creek 4, La Crosse 3

The Bombers got a scare on Thursday as the Loggers scored three runs in the 9th inning in a comeback effort. Fortunately for Battle Creek, they were able to hold on for the 4-3 win. Mike Mancuso (Georgia) went 5.1 innings and allowed zero runs while striking out five batters.

Willmar 3, Mankato 1

After scoring a pair of runs early on, the Stingers were able to capture a win on Thursday thanks to a team effort from their pitching staff. Three pitchers, including Chris Kubitz (St. Cloud State), combined to allow just five hits and a run in nine innings of work.

Green Bay 6, Eau Claire 5

The Bullfrogs got revenge from Wednesday’s offensive explosion as they took the one-run win from Eau Claire. After getting up 5-0 and then surrendering the lead in the 6th, the ‘Frogs were able to plate a run in the bottom frame and held on for a win. The Bullfrog bullpen allowed just one unearned run on two hits in 3.2 innings of work.

Duluth 15, Alexandria 9

The Huskies pounced on the Blue Anchors very early in Thursday’s game. They were able to plate 13 runs in the first five innings and held a 13-2 lead through the game’s first half. Trey Vavra (Eastern Illinois) contributed with a big night at the plate as he went 2/7 with four RBI.
