Rochester, Minn (June 16th, 2013)–Sunday was Father’s Day and excitement was abundant throughout play in the league. Runs continued to tally on the scoreboard as the theme of offensive triumph remained strong.

In Madison, the Mallards had their day spoiled by the visiting Green Bay Bullfrogs. After the ‘Frogs tied the game in the 6th inning, the game remained scoreless until a three-run 10th inning from the visitors.

In Rochester, the Honkers played host to the visiting Alexandria Blue Anchors. This game wound up being a slug fest as the Honkers squeaked out a one-run victory while tallying 12 runs.

Rochester 12, Alexandria 11

A day after scoring an impressive 18 runs, the Blue Anchors tallied double digits again on Sunday. This time, however, they were unable to come away with the win thanks to the top of the Honker order. The first four hitters in Rochester’s lineup combined to go 11/16 with 12 RBI and seven runs scored.

Green Bay 7, Madison 4 (F/10)

Bryant Burleson (Texas Tech) delivered the big blow in the top of the 10th inning as he launched a three-run shot to turn in the decisive runs. The Bullfrogs’ bullpen was stellar in the win as they pitched five innings and allowed only one hit and no walks.

Waterloo 11, Mankato 4

J.T. Miller (Wabash College) may have gotten a lot of run support, but he certainly didn’t need it. The starter was able to go seven innings and allowed just one run on four hits while collecting six strikeouts. The top of the Waterloo lineup was impressive on Sunday as they combined for 9/15 with seven RBI and seven runs scored.

Willmar 6, St. Cloud 4

The Stingers did their damage in the middle innings on Sunday as they scored all of their runs between the 4th and 6th innings. Marc Flores (Hawaii) went 4/5 with three RBI on the night.

Wisconsin Rapids 5, Wisconsin 4 (F/10)

Teh Rafters were able to sneak past a four-run 5th inning from the Woodchucks to grab a win on Father’s day. Jonathan Moroney (Texas A&M) had a great day out of the five-hole as he collected a pair of hits and a pair of RBI. The Rafter bullpen was able to pitch four innings of shutout ball to hold on for the win in extras.

Lakeshore 13, Battle Creek 2

The Chinooks grabbed 12 runs between the 6th and 7th innings and added another in the 8th as they got a big win over Battle Creek on Sunday. The Chinooks used a balanced attack on offense and were incredibly patient as they drew ten walks and only struck out four times.

La Crosse 10, Eau Claire 4

The Loggers were another team whose top of the order had a big day on Sunday. The top three spots in the Logger order combined for seven RBI and were 5/11 at the dish.  Johnny Bekakis (Long Beach State) drove in three runs and was hit by his fifth pitch on the season.

Duluth 9, Thunder Bay 6

The Huskies used two three-run innings to pace their offense on Sunday’s win. Alex Wojciechowski (Minnesota Duluth) drove in three runs while collecting a pair of hits, which included a double, for the Huskies.
