Rochester, Minn (June 19th, 2013)–Wednesday’s action was all about the continuation of various streaks. In the cases of Willmar, Waterloo, and Rochester, this meant the continuation of winning streaks. For the Honkers, they have now won six games in a row as they work their way towards the top of the North division standings.

Unfortunately, a big losing streak was also continued on Wednesday as the Wisconsin Woodchucks dropped both games of their double-header against Wisconsin Rapids and have now lost eight games in a row.

In other action, the Mankato MoonDogs shut out the St. Cloud Rox and allowed only two hits on the night to pick up the win.

Mankato 6, St. Cloud 0

Sam Clay (Georgia Tech) and Jared Carkuff (Austin peay) combined to shut out the Rox in a road win on Wednesday. The duo allowed only two hits and struck out six batters. On offense, Timothy Arakawa (Oklahoma State) went 3/4 with three RBI and three runs scored.

Wisconsin Rapids 6, Wisconsin 3 (Game 1)

The Rafters used four different pitchers in their first win on Wednesday night. Three of the pitchers combined for 4.1 IP and allowed zero runs and zero hits. Jonathan Moroney (Texas A&M) drove in a pair of runs to lead the offense.

Wisconsin Rapids 4, Wisconsin 3 (Game 2, F/7)

The teams traded a pair of three-run innings in the first pair of frames in game two of Wednesday’s double-header. With the game tied heading into the bottom of the 7th, the Rafters were able to push across the winning run on a fielder’s choice.

Waterloo 4, Duluth 3

The Bucks gave up three runs in the first four innings, but their bullpen was rock solid the rest of the way. Three pitchers combined for five innings, three hits, and four strikeouts to lock down the game. David Kerian (Illinois) collected three hits in the win.

Battle Creek 5, Lakeshore 2

A four-run third inning wound up being the undoing for the Lakeshore Chinooks on Wednesday. The Bombers were able to overcome striking out ten times as an offense and plated five runs on seven hits and a walk. Caleb Vincent (Grand Valley State) pitched well out of the bullpen, allowing one run over five innings of work.

Green Bay 8, Madison 3

The Bullfrogs got down 3-1, but they then scored four in the 6th and three in the 8th to capture the win on Wednesday. Andrew Ely (Washington) had a nice night on offense as he hit a double, drove in a run, and scored twice.

La Crosse 5, Eau Claire 3

All of the scoring in this game came early, as scoring ended after the bottom of the third. The Logger bullpen combined for four IP and just one hit and a walk while striking out six batters.

Willmar 9, Alexandria 6

The Stingers continue to play well as they grabbed a victory from the Blue Anchors on Wednesday night. Zack Tillery (Florida Gulf Coast) had a great night at the plate as he went 3/4 with a grand slam in the win.
