Rochester, Minn (June 21st, 2013)–An unfortunate truth in baseball is that some games are going to be rained out or shortened by the wet stuff. Four games on Friday were impacted by the fall of rain, with two games being postponed.

Mankato vs. Willmar and Rochester vs. Alexandria will be made up on the 22nd (3:05) and the 27th (6:05) respectively, while Wisconsin vs. Eau Claire and Lakeshore vs. Madison were shortened by rain.

In game action, Waterloo continued to roll behind the efforts of starter Eric Stout (Butler) who went six innings and allowed only two runs. In La Crosse, the Wisconsin Woodchucks managed to end their losing streak by taking out the first-place Loggers.

Battle Creek 4, Green Bay 2

David Stagg (Heartland CC) was excellent on Friday as he threw five shutout innings, allowed two hits, and struck out seven batters. In total, pitchers from both teams were able to strike out 22 hitters on the night. Matt Fears (Valdosta State) collected three hits and drove in his 17th RBI.

Eau Claire 9, Wisconsin Rapids 1 (F/7, Rain)

The Express started off firing on all cylinders as they scored six runs in the bottom of the first. Zak Shockley (Marshall) was superb as he allowed only three hits and an unearned run while striking out seven over seven innings.

Lakeshore 11, Madison 3 (F/8, Rain)

The Chinooks have truly turned themselves into a force to be reckoned with as they won again in Madison on Friday. Carrying a 4-3 lead into the 8th, the Chinooks scored seven times in the top of the frame and walked away with a big win. The Chinooks got  a big night from Mike Hollenbeck (Illinois State) who went 4/4 with a home run and two RBI.

Waterloo 4, St. Cloud 2

The Bucks scored two runs in the bottom of the 7th to break a 2-2 against the Rox on Friday. David Kerian (Illinois) collected two hits and two RBI out of the number three spot in the order to lift the offense. On the mound, Eric Stout (Butler) allowed only two runs on five hits and took a no-decision.

Wisconsin 5, La Crosse 2

The Woodchucks ended their losing streak on Friday behind the efforts of their pitching staff. Danny Young (Florida) started things off with five innings and only one earned run allowed. The bullpen then came in and allowed only one hit over four innings of shutout work.

Thunder Bay 11, Duluth 6

After giving up five runs in the top of the first, the Border Cats rallied to defeat the Huskies on Friday. The Border Cats got the lead down to one by the end of the third inning, and then they walked away with the game in the bottom of the 6th, where they erupted for six runs and sealed the deal.
