Rochester, Minn (July 9th, 2013)–The theme of Tuesday night was home runs. On the evening, 23 different homers were hit. Two teams had five home run nights on ways to huge offensive showings.

The large number of home runs led to a high number of runs, which is to be expected. Eight teams scored seven or more runs on the evening as pitchers truly had a rough go at it after having a strong night earlier in the week.

The most exciting game of the night happened in Mequon where the Lakeshore Chinooks edged out the La Crosse Loggers by a single run in 12 innings. After the Chinooks scored five runs in the bottom of the 8th, they blew the lead in the 9th and were sent into extras. After being unable to close the deal earlier, the Chinooks scored a run in the bottom of the frame and walked off.

Mankato 18, Rochester 5

As mentioned earlier, Tuesday night belonged to home runs. With this theme in mind, the MoonDogs hit five home runs as a team in a route of the Rochester Honkers. All nine MoonDog starters recorded hits and seven had multi-hit games. In fact, six different Mankato hitters drove in multiple RBI in the win.

Lakeshore 10, La Crosse 9 (F/12)

The Chinooks continue to roll with another big win over La Crosse on Tuesday. After blowing the lead in the 9th inning, the Chinooks were able to walk off in the 12th thanks to a single from Mike Hollenbeck (Illinois State) who was 4/7 in the win.

Wisconsin 12, Green Bay 8

As they did through the first couple of weeks during the season, the Woodchucks broke out the bats against Green Bay on Tuesday. All nine Woodchuck starters recorded hits, but they were led by Josh Goossen-Brown (Cal State Northridge) who went 2/4 with a home run and four RBI.

Waterloo 7, Alexandria 1

As has often been the case lately, the Bucks came away with a convincing win on Tuesday night. The Bucks got a solid night from Jacob Stone (Weatherford CC) on the mound as he went five innings and allowed just one run on four hits.

Madison 6, Eau Claire 2

On a night filled with home runs and great offense, Cam Verbeke (Illinois State) sure didn’t seem to care. He was excellent for the Mallards as he went six innings and allowed just one run on three hits while striking out seven batters. The Mallards didn’t hit any homers in support of him, but they collected 12 hits and drove across six runs.

Willmar 11, Duluth 2

The Stingers also sent out a great starter on Tuesday as they grabbed a big win from Duluth. Abe Bobb (San Francisco) continues to mow down lineups as he picked up the win. He allowed zero earned runs through seven innings and was supported by four home runs.

Battle Creek 9, Wisconsin Rapids 4

The Bombers used a six run fifth inning to grab a convincing win over Wisconsin Rapids on Tuesday. Tyler Moore (LSU) had a big night as he went 4/4 with two RBI and two runs scored. As can probably be guessed, he hit his first home run of the season as part of the effort.

St. Cloud 5, Thunder Bay 2

Kyle Davis (Colorado Mesa) turned in a solid start on Tuesday as he went six innings and allowed two runs while striking out three batters. Tim Cowell (North Dakota State) led the charge in supporting him with three hits, a run, and a RBI.
