Rochester, Minn (July 21st, 2013)–As the Northwoods prepares for the All Star break, teams met up for one final slate of games on Sunday. Over the course of seven games, the road team emerged victorious six times. The home-field advantage that is normally seen in sports was not present on this day.

The Eau Claire Express were among the winning road teams on Sunday. With the win, Express manager Dale Varsho tied the Northwoods League wins record with his 300th victory.

The lone home team to win on Sunday was Duluth, who exploded in a win over Thunder Bay. The HUskies scored all 16 of their runs in the first five innings as they cruised to a win.

The most impressive road team on Sunday was Madison, who won over the Woodchucks in Wausau. The Mallards did not give up an earned run as Remy Hovis (North Carolina) pitched six scoreless innings and allowed just three hits.

La Crosse 7, Green Bay 4 (F/10)

The Loggers won a rather sloppy game by plating three runs in the top of the tenth inning. With six combined errors and three earned runs, both pitching staffs had to work a bit extra. Collin Monsour (California) made the difference for La Crosse as he tossed eight innings and gave up just three earned runs.

Waterloo 8, Rochester 6

The Bucks concluded their pre-All Star break run with another win on Sunday. After getting off to a slow start, the Bucks plated runs in every inning between the fourth and seventh. David Kerian (Illinois) led the offense again with three hits, two walks, and a trio of RBI.

Duluth 16, Thunder Bay 7

The Huskies scored all 16 of their runs in the first five innings and put this game away early. The Huskies wouldn’t have been able to see this much success without Kyle Teaf (South Florida) setting the table out of the lead off spot.  Teaf went 1/3 with four walks and four runs scored in the win.

St. Cloud 9, Alexandria 2

The Rox’ pitching staff worked around 13 hits as they allowed just the two runs on the night. They were aided by great control, as they did not walk any batters, and their defense was solid behind them. Clay Williamson (Cal State Fullerton) led the offense with four hits, three RBI, and four runs scored.

Madison 7, Wisconsin 1

The Mallards got a great game out of their pitching staff in their win over Wisconsin. Reilly Hovis (North Carolina) made the start and pitched six shutout innings while allowing just three hits. Danny Sullivan (Davenport) followed him out of the bullpen with three strong innings with zero earned runs.

Eau Claire 6, Battle Creek 1

Much like Madison, Eau Claire got a great night out of their pitching staff. The Express bullpen was especially solid with four innings and just three hits allowed while blanking the Bombers. This was preceded by Brandon Jackson (Oregon State) who made the start and allowed just one run over five innings.

Mankato 18, Willmar 14 (F/17)

The MoonDogs blew a four run lead in the ninth inning. They went on to blow another lead in the 14th before finally grabbing the lead and holding onto it in the 17th inning. The offense was well-balanced on the Mankato side as six different players had multi-RBI games.

Wisconsin Rapids vs. Lakeshore- Postponed (Rain)

This game will be made up as part of a double header on July 26th.
