Brown, Gross, and Duester Join Teammate France for Honkers 2015 season

(Rochester, Minn.) The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today the signing of three Tulane players, Grant Brown, Jordan Gross, and Patrick Duester.  Brown, Gross, and Duester (Doo-stir) join Tulane pitcher J.P. France for the Honkers 2015 season.

Brown, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound sophomore outfielder from Gulfport, Miss. appeared in 29 games in 2014 for Tulane, starting 18 of them.  He batted .228 with six runs, 13 hits, three doubles, and six RBIs.  Four of Brown’s 29 appearances saw multi-hit games, with his first hit of his collegiate career coming in his first start against Louisiana Tech.

After missing the 2013 season, Gross, a 6-foot-2, 215-pound junior left handed pitcher from Franklin Lakes, N.J., returned for his sophomore season with the Green Wave in a relief pitcher role, picking up where he left off his 2012 freshman season.  Gross appeared in one game last season, allowing just one hit and one run while walking two.  His 2012 season saw three appearances out of the bullpen, two of those outings being scoreless.

The Honkers round out the signees from Tulane with Patrick Duester, a 6-foot-6, 220-pound junior right handed pitcher from Titusville, Fla.  His previous two seasons were played at St. John’s River State in Palatka, Fla., where he helped lead his team to a 38-16 record his sophomore season.  Duester posted a 3-1 record with a 2.71 ERA which lead his team to the 2014 Mid-Florida Conference Championship.

The Rochester Honkers 22nd season begins on May 26th when the Mankato MoonDogs bark into Mayo Field for a 7:05pm first pitch.  Season Tickets, Bonus Books, Suites and Patios are now available. Call the Rochester Honkers office at 507-289-1170 for more information.  The Honkers are also looking for host families for the 2015 season and ask all interested parties to call the business office for more information.
