(Rochester, Minn.)— The Rochester Honkers Baseball Club announced today that Joe Holtman, a 2015 graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison, has been hired as the team’s new Assistant General Manager. He will serve under Honkers owners Kim Archer and Dan Litzinger.
"I'm very excited and thankful for the opportunity to join the Rochester Honkers," said Holtman. "I'm looking forward to growing in this position and learning from Kim and Dan. I couldn't be happier with where I ended up."
Holtman graduated from UW-Madison in May of 2015 with a degree in Journalism and Strategic Communication. He served as the Chair of the All-Campus Leadership Conference Committee, the largest student-run event on campus, from 2014-2015. He was ultimately responsible for the marketing plan, fundraising, event programming and event operations.
“Kim and I are excited to have Joe join our team and family,” said General Manager, Dan Litzinger. “He’s a very organized and driven young professional who is ready and excited to run with us. Joe’s got that unique quality of when you meet him, you already like him.”
Holtman got his desire for baseball after spending the summer of 2014 as a Marketing and Operations Intern for the Lakeshore Chinooks of the Northwoods League. He assisted with the planning of the 2014 Northwoods League All-Star game and All-Star Banquet in which Lakeshore hosted. He was also heavily involved with the day to day game operations of the team including concessions, staff management and game productions.
"My summer interning with the Chinooks solidified my dream of working in sports and sparked my admiration for the Northwoods League. I also feel that my background as a Journalism Major, along with my experience, has helped prepare me to be a significant asset to the Honkers' front office. I can't wait to get started”
Holtman served, as was very active, in many events and committees at UW-Madison, and had a strong presence in the Student Leadership Program and Public Relations Student Society of America. He will be heavily involved with the Honkers in sales and marketing, community involvement and awareness, and game day operations and management during the summer.
