Reynolds is the 149th former Northwoods League player to debut in MLB

Rochester, Minn. – Former St. Cloud River Bats infielder, Matt Reynolds, made his Major League debut for the New York Mets on Tuesday, May 17, 2016. Reynolds is the 149th former Northwoods League player to reach the Major League level.

Reynolds, who played collegiately at Arkansas, played for the St. Cloud River Bats in 2010. Reynolds was drafted by the New York Mets in the 2nd round of the 2012 MLB draft.

In 2010 with the River Bats, Reynolds hit .238 over 35 games. He also had seven doubles and 14 RBI.

Reynolds started his Minor League career in 2012 with the Savannah Sand Gnats in the Lo-A South Atlantic League. Over 48 games he hit .259 with eight doubles and three home runs. He also drove in 13 runs and stole five bases.

Reynolds began the 2013 season in the Hi-A Florida State League with the St. Lucie Mets. After 117 games with St. Lucie he was promoted to the Binghamton Mets in the AA Eastern League. Between the two teams he hit .225 with five home runs, 21 doubles, six triples and nine stolen bases. He only appeared in one game with Binghamton.

2014 saw Reynolds play 58 games in Binghamton before a promotion to the AAA Las Vegas 51s in the Pacific Coast League. He hit .343 with 21 doubles and seven triples to go along with 20 stolen bases between the two clubs. He also drove in 61 runs.

In 2015, Reynolds started in the Gulf Coast League with the Mets Rookie team for three games before going back to AAA in Las Vegas. Between the two teams he played in 118 games and hit .269 with 32 doubles, five triples and drove in 66 runs. He also stole 13 bases in 17 attempts.

Prior to being called up to the Mets, Reynolds had played in 33 games with Las Vegas and was hitting .238 with two triples and four stolen bases. He had also driven in seven runs.

Reynolds was on the New York Mets playoff roster for the NLDS in 2015 but did not appear in a game.

In his Major League debut against the Washington Nationals, Reynolds was the starting third baseman and went 0 for 3 at the plate.
