Oral Roberts duo are headed to Madison for the 2019 season
Madison, WI – The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of a pair of Oral Roberts two-way players. Sophomores, AJ Archambo (Bartlesville, OK) and Brody Gibson (Claremore, OK) will both be joining the Mallards after their spring collegiate seasons.
Archambo, a 6-foot-4 righty, splits time between the outfield and the mound. Last season he spent most of his time in the field, where he recorded 14 starts and 27 appearances. At the plate, he totaled 11 walks, six runs scored and three RBIs in his freshman season. He was a multi-sport standout in high school, earning All-State Honorable Mention in baseball, and All-State First Team in football his senior season. Over opening weekend, Archambo stepped up to the plate twice and came across for a run both times.
Gibson has spent time on both sides of the plate, performing a dual role as a pitcher and a catcher. Spending most of his time behind the plate in his freshman campaign, Gibson started 15 of 20 games and ended with 10 hits, bringing in five runs off of those hits. Also a phenomenal high school talent, Gibson led Metro Christian Academy to an Oklahoma Class 3A state championship his senior season, and was named the Pinnacle Conference Player of the Year.
The Oral Roberts Golden Eagles opened their season over the weekend, going 3-0 with an impressive offensive output. The next contest will be on Friday at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.
