Balog Helps Bullfrogs Beat Bombers

Nik Balog (San Francisco) help lead the Bullfrogs to victory Tuesday night against the Battle Creek Bombers. Balog was 3-for-5 on the night with two runs scored and three RBIs. The 6'3'' left handed hitter from Saratoga, CA hit his 3rd home run of the season Tuesday night. Balog is now hitting .280 in 14 games for the Bullfrogs.

Briner Brilliant in Start

Tom Briner (UC-Davis) was impressive in his start against the Madison Mallards Tuesday night. The 6'2'' right-handed pitcher threw 6.0 innings of three hit baseball to take down the Mallards. Briner is now 2-0 in 2011 in three starts and has a 0.56 earned run average in 16.0 innings pitched.

Haniger Hits Game Winning Homer

Mitch Haniger (Cal Poly) stepped to the plate for the Green Bay Bullfrogs in the bottom of the 9th against the Battle Creek Bombers down 5-4. Haniger blasted a two-run homer that scored Jacob May (Coastal Carolina) to win the game 6-5 at Joannes Stadium in Green Bay. Haniger, a 6'2'' outfielder, was 2-for-4 on the night with two runs scored and three RBIs. Haniger is now hitting .348 with three home runs.

Mankato’s Schwartz Shines on the Mound

Blake Schwartz (Mankato State) had the best pitching performance on the 2011 NWL season on Monday night. The 6'3'' righty from Rosemount, MN threw a complete game two hitter against the Thunder Bay Border Cats at Franklin Rogers Park. Schwartz is now 3-0 in 2011 with the MoonDogs in five games. He has 32.2 innings pitched and an impressive 4-to-1 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
