

Marcus Pointer
Field Manager/Head Coach
A native of Pacifica, CA., is entering his sixth year with the Duluth Huskies. With a successful collegiate baseball career while attending Skyline Junior College in San Bruno, CA. Pointer had won 21 games in two seasons achieving 1st team All-Conference unanimous Pitcher-of-the-year and 1st team All-American. Afterwards, he became the pitching coach for the Orange County Riptide, leading the team to the 2017 Championships. Currently the Head Coach and Pitching Coach at Skyline, he has has a number of his players all-league pitchers and top prospects from over 100 different colleges across the NCAA, NAIA, and Junior College levels. Including almost 50 of his players selected for the annual Major League Draft and numerous others sign professionally.

Jake Pashby
Assistant Coach
A native of Daly City, CA., Pashby has been with the Duluth Huskies for three years now. Starting out as a SACH (scouting, analytics, coaching, hybrid) Intern, he will be entering his second year as Assistant Coach. Along with coaching for the Huskies in the Northwoods League, Pashby is the Catching Coach for the Skyline Junior College Trojans, with Coach Pointer.

Jake Lewis
Assistant Coach & 1st Base Coach
A Proctor, MN. native, Lewis is entering his third year of coaching for the Huskies. Aside from coaching the Huskies he is entering his fourth year as an Assistant Coach at St. Scholastica. Lewis on field duties are comprised of working with the catchers and assisting the pitching staff. Before becoming a part of the Scholastica coaching staff, he spent six seasons as head pitching coach and outfield coach at Proctor High School. Then, he was promoted to Head Coach for the Rails. Lewis played collegiately for the University of Wisconsin, Superior. During his four year career he amassed over 150 innings pitched over 35 appearances for the YellowJackets. Graduating in 2016 he was also awarded with the UWS Pitcher of the Year Award.

Zac Epperson
Analytics
A Southwest Virginia Native, returns to Duluth for his second season following a previous tenure as a baseball analytics intern the summer of 2023. A 2024 graduate of Virginia Tech with a bachelors in sports media and analytics, he is currently a graduate student at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas where he also serves a graduate assistant with the Rebel’s football team in equipment. He’s previously worked with Virginia Tech Athletics in baseball analytics, compliance, and football recruiting as well as working for the MLB Draft League. He’s also served as a baseball coach at his alma mater Christiansburg High School. In his free time he enjoys the outdoors, being with friends, and traveling as much as possible. Zac is looking forward to returning to Duluth for another successful season with the Huskies.

Dale “Hoagie” Haagenson
Assistant Clubhouse Manager & Hype Man
A fixture in the Duluth Huskies dugout, Dale “Hoagie” Haagenson joined the Huskies staff during the inaugural season in 2003. He has served as the assistant clubhouse manager ever since. He’s recently been added as an assistant coach and “hype” man for the team in a more official capacity.
In March 2018, Haagenson was paid perhaps the ultimate tribute by UMD Athletics when he was inducted into its Hall of Fame. In celebration of Haagenson’s 25th anniversary with the Bulldogs, UMD held a star-studded “Hoagie Appreciation Night” at the DECC on Feb. 24, 2005, and then-Duluth Mayor Herb Bergson officially proclaimed it “Hoagie Day” in the city. In addition, the “UMD Hoagie Men’s Hockey Scholarship” was created in his honor the following year.
A native of Babbit, Minn., Haagenson is also a long-time and dedicated volunteer for the UMD Bulldog baseball and football teams, lending his services at their home games.
