Kenosha, Wis. – The Kingfish (18-26 overall) were shut out at home 7-0 by the Madison Mallards.

The Kingfish saw a strong pitching performance from their starter, Charlie Hecht, in defeat. Hecht threw 6 innings, allowed 6 hits, and surrendered 3 runs. He also tallied 3 strikeouts on the evening. Andrew Burnick gave the Kingfish two scoreless innings of relief, but things fell apart in the ninth.

Combined with a trio of infield singles and a Blake Reese error, the Mallards plated 4 runs late off of JR Holloway. 3 of the 4 runs Holloway allowed were earned, and the Mallards were able to coast to a 7-0 win.

Marty Bechina went 1 for 4 on the night and was the only Kingfish to pick up a double. The other 5 base hits were scattered throughout the lineup. The Kingfish offense, in addition to the 6 hits, drew 2 walks and struck out 15 times. For a second consecutive night, the Kingfish left 11 runners on base.

The Kingfish will host the Lakeshore Chinooks tomorrow night at 7:05 CT. The Mallards will be back in Kenosha on Saturday for a two game series before the All-Star break.
