Kingfish score two on a walk-off single from Kirk Liebert to beat the Jackrabbits
Kenosha, WI– The Kenosha Kingfish (6-4) walked it off in 11 innings against the Kokomo Jackrabbits (6-3) on Wednesday, July 14 at Historic Simmons Field.
The Kingfish started the game with a lead-off double from Carmine Lane (University of South Florida). Kenosha scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the second off a single from Dustin Crenshaw (Grand Canyon University) that scored Chase Estep (University of Kentucky).
Kenosha held onto this one run lead until the top of the sixth when the Jackrabbits scored one off a double from Jakob Marsee (Central Michigan) and a single from Gavin Grant (Oregon).
The game remained tied until the bottom of the eleventh inning when Kirk Liebert (University of Kentucky) hit a two-RBI single off of Jackrabbits reliever Aaron Husson (Central Michigan) that drove in Crenshaw and Mckay Barney (University of Washington) to win the game.
Kingfish starter Brock Weirather (University of Richmond) pitched eight complete innings giving up four hits and one run while striking out four. Jackrabbits starter Chase Nelson (Columbia State) pitched six innings and gave up one run. Kingfish reliever Brady Kais (Columbus State) is credited with the win after pitching three innings and giving up one run in the tenth. Husson is credited with the loss for Kokomo.
