Kingfish Homecoming, Inaugural Home Opener Tonight!

After completing a four game road trip to open the season, the Kingfish return to Kenosha for their inaugural season home opener.  First pitch is at 6:05 p.m. at historic Simmons Field. With the inaugural season underway, affordable, family friendly entertainment will now return to Kenosha.

Through the first four games of the season, the Kingfish are 3-1, and tied for first in the South Division. So far, the season has been highlighted by solid pitching and dynamic hitting. Zach Ratcliff (OSU) leads the league with two home runs and Trevor Haas (Valparaiso) was at his best last night with seven innings pitched, five strike outs and only three hits.

Pitching the home opener is J.D Nielson.  Nielson and Zack Kolakowski, both players for the University of Illinois, were the first to sign with the Kenosha Kingfish. They made their first appearance with the team on November 23rd, 2013 at the launch party.  Both will return tonight to Simmons Field for the first home game of the Kenosha Kingfish.

$1.4 million dollars has been invested into the renovation of historic Simmons Field as part of a partnership between the Kingfish and the city of Kenosha.  Simmons Field was built in 1920 and used by various teams such as the Kenosha Comets and Kenosha Twins. The renovation, built by Camosy Construction, began in 2013 and has maintained the classic feel of the ballpark while adding new life and amenities.
