The Madison Mallards have announced the signing of three pitchers from the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. Junior Cameron Brown (Lakewood,CO), and two freshman, Mitch Megias (Gahanna, OH) and Aidan Tyrell (Joliet, IL).

Brown, an experienced lefty pitcher, was just named a co-captain for the 2019 season. In his sophomore season, Brown totaled 18 appearances, made six starts, and totaled 58 innings, and finished with 43 punch outs. His best start came versus Kent State in which he pitched a career-high eight innings of three-hit baseball, striking out seven and only surrendering one run.

Megias, a power throwing righty from Gahanna Lincoln High School, is entering his first season with the Irish. He totaled up 41.1 innings in his senior season and earned a 4-3 record with a 2.20 ERA. He was also named First Team OCC-Ohio (Ohio Capital Conference), First Team All-District, Mizuno All-Ohio and OCC Scholar Athlete. Megias also excels in the classroom, placing first in the Business Services Operations Research event at the 2018 DECA International Career Development Conference.

Tyrell, a six-foot freshman, was a standout southpaw at Joliet Catholic Academy. Throughout his four years he led them to four conference championships and earned some personal honors along the way. In his junior season he was named East Suburban Catholic Conference Co-Pitcher of the Year, and in his senior season earned ESCC Player of the Year.

Notre Dame plays their season opener on February 15 at Arizona State. With these three additions, the Mallards have strong leadership coming to the Duck Pond, along with some highly touted young arms.  

The Mallards open the 2019 campaign on May 28 against newcomers to the Northwoods League, the Kokomo Jackrabbits. Single game tickets will go on sale April 27.
