Cole Meyer’s sixth-inning home run got the Minot Hot Tots on the board for the first time this season, but the St. Cloud Rox pitching staff was just too much, finishing a sweep of the Hot Tots with a 6-3 win.

Another night, another strong start from Hot Tot pitching. Despite some early traffic that led to two runs, Trent Harris, picked up steam throughout his start on Tuesday night. Harris would finish the day with six strikeouts, three hits and one earned run over five innings. The Hot Tots turned the ball over to relief pitcher Noah Dreier, who stayed on the mound for the remainder of the game. Dreier also ran into early trouble but kept it to a minimum.

The Hot Tots offense did need some time to get to Rox starter JP Robertson. The first base runner reached in the third on an Andy Roman single. Not until the bottom of the sixth would the Hot Tots plate their first run of the season, a solo home run off the bat of Cole Meyer.

Trailing 5-1 in the eighth inning, Minot put their comeback effort together. Braden Booth scored from third on a wild pitch and Henry Allen drove in Matt Toomey just a few pitches later.

St. Cloud added one run of insurance in the top of the ninth and gave third-year Rox pitcher Brandon Jaenke his first save situation of the season. Jaenke sat down three Hot Tots in the inning, wrapping up a Rox victory 6-3.

The First Command Play of the Game was given to Matt Toomey who made a diving catch in center field in the third inning. The Hot Tots drew three Buffalo Wild Wings Walks in the game. Minot is back in action Wednesday as the Lakeside Lip Rippers take over Corbett Field hosting the Willmar Stingers for the first of a four-game series.
