McQuillan Powers Mallards with Four Hits
Mike McQuillan (Iowa) led the Madison Mallards to victory on opening night against the Wisconsin Rapids Rafters with a four hit night. The athletic left-handed hitting infielder was 4-for-5 on the night with a run scored and a stolen base. The junior infielder finished the season as the Hawkeye's best hitter with a .330 average and 31 RBI.

McGuiggan Powers Express
Steve McGuiggan (Illinois-Chicago) blasted two home runs Sunday afternoon to lead the Eau Claire Express to a 2010 NWL Championship. McGuiggan, an Apple Valley, MN native, hit two-run home runs in the 3rd and 5th inning to give Eau Claire a 4-0 lead. The 5'11'' righty finished the afternoon 3-for-4 with two runs scored and four RBI. The center fielder for Eau Claire also threw out Andrew Mendenhall (Oregon) in the top of the 5th as he was trying to score the Honkers 1st run of the game.
Elder At It Again for Rochester
Chris Elder (Oral Roberts) was at it again for the Rochester Honkers as he drove in three runs to propel the Honkers into a decisive game three in the Summer Collegiate World Series. Elder only had one hit on the night, but made it count as he blasted a three-run homer in the 4th inning. The left handed hitting Elder scored three runs on the night, drove in three and walked three times.
McGuiggan Leads Express Offense
Steve McGuiggan of the Eau Claire Express had two hits in game one of the Summer Collegiate World Series. The 5'11'' 195-pound righty was 2-for-4 on the night with one RBI and one run scored. One of McGuiggan's two hits was a home run, his 1st of the postseason.
Fadness Leads Express
Nolan Fadness (Wisconsin Oshkosh) scored three runs from his leadoff position Thursday night. Fadness was 2-for-5 on the night with three runs scored. The speedy left fielder is hitting .300 in the playoffs and hopes to continue his hot hitting into the Summer Collegiate World Series.
Wright Hits Game Winning Homer
Davy Wright (Texas Christian) of the Rochester Honkers did not have the prettiest stat line against the River Bats as he went 1-for5, but his lone hit sent the Honkers to the NWL Championship Series. Wright blasted a solo home run in the 12th inning that broke a 2-2. The 6’1’’ infielder gave the Honkers a 3-2 lead while the home run was the 2nd of the season for Wright.
Perfect Night for Elder
Rochester Honker Chris Elder (Oral Roberts) had a huge night off of NWL Pitcher of the Year Jason Wheeler. Elder was a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and one run scored. The left handed hitting Elder broke the game open with a three-run homer in the 4th. Elder also walked two times in the 8-2 victory.
Astor Has Three Extra Base Hits
Jake Astor (Southern Arkansas) led the Waterloo Bucks to their final win of the season. Astor was 3-for-4 with three runs scored and three RBI in the 11-2 win over Eau Claire. Astor blasted two home runs, his 1st two of the season, and also doubled. The hard swinging lefty hit .289 on the season for Waterloo and had 16 extra base hits with 17 RBI. Matt Dittman (Illinois) led the Rochester Honkers to victory with his three-hit performance.
Nivins Paces Border Cats
Tanner Nivins (Stony Brook) was perfect Sunday night against the Willmar Stingers. Nivins went 5-for-5 in the 7-3 win that eliminated the Stingers from post-season play in their inaugural season. The 5’10’’ infielder is currently hitting .308 with 36 RBI and 20 extra base hits. Nivins leads the Border Cats in batting average, slugging percentage, home runs and triples.
Lind Has Perfect Night At Plate
Rob Lind had an impressive night on Saturday as the Woodchucks beat the Loggers 13-3 at Athletic Park in Wausau, WI. Lind was a perfect 5-for-5 with three runs scored and one RBI. He is currently hitting .327 with 74 hits while 15 of those have gone for doubles. Lind is 9 for his last 14 while the Woodchucks are 3-0 in those games.
Scanlon Drives in Three in Mallard Win
Justin Scanlon (Madison College) led the Mallards offensively Friday night. Scanlon was 3-for-5 with one run scored and three RBI in the win against the La Crosse Loggers. The 6’1’’ righty from Verona, WI is currently hitting .328 with 19 hits and 8 RBI on the season.
Eichstaedt Drives in Four for Bullfrogs
Andrew Eichstaedt (Wisconsin Whitewater) had a great day at the plate for the Green Bay Bullfrogs. Eichstaedt was 4-for-6 in the win against Battle Creek with four RBI and one run scored. The 6’1’’ 190 pound utility player has seven hits in three games for Green Bay. Chris O’Dowd had three hits in the Loggers win with two RBI and a homerun.
