Ure Dominates Out of ‘Pen as Spitters Take Game One

 

Kenosha, WI – The Traverse City Pit Spitters win game one of the series against the Kenosha Kingfish, 4-3. The Pit Spitters record improves to 34-23, and 12-10 in the second half.

The Pit Spitters offense started in the top of the second inning as Evan Orzech was hit by a pitch. Camden Traficante reached first based on an error made by Kingfish second baseman Nico Bermeo. Cole Prout hit a three-run home run, to give the Pit Spitters an early 3-0 lead. The Kingfish started putting the offense together in the bottom of the fifth inning. Ivan Dahlberg was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning, Lance Trippel then singled to center putting runners on first and second. Dom Listi came through with a single, scoring Dahlberg and Trippel to cut into the Pit Spitters lead 3-2. Bermeo hit a single to center scoring Listi to tie the game at 3-3. Glenn Miller led off the top of the ninth with a walk. Miller was then thrown out at second after Orzech grounded into a fielder’s choice. Prout singled to right field to put runners on first and second. Tyler Minnick singled to center scoring Orzech to give a the Pit Spitters a 4-3 lead. The Pit Spitters held on to the one run lead in the bottom of the ninth, winning game one of the series against the Kingfish 4-3.

The Pit Spitters improve to 34-23 on the season and 12-10 in the second half, while the Kingfish drop to 25-31 overall and 8-15 in the second half. The Pit Spitters starting pitcher Nathan Dvorsky threw six innings, giving up three runs on four hits, striking out six. Jared Ure threw three innings of scoreless ball, striking out four.

The Pit Spitters stay in Kenosha to take on the Kingfish for the series finale. First pitch is 6:35 PM CT. All league games are viewable live via the Northwoods League Website.
