ST. CLOUD–The Stingers never quite got into a groove on Tuesday night in St. Cloud, dropping a 6-1 decision to the River Bats at Joe Faber Field. Maybe that’s because Stingers starter Charley Olson and outfielders Jordan Smith and Isaac Ballou had a little extra on their minds, learning just prior to Tuesday’s game that they had been selected to represent Willmar at the 2010 Northwoods League All Star Game, July 20th in Eau Claire.

Smith was an All Star shoe-in, as he leads the league in hits and is second in batting average and Charley Olson was also a lock, throwing more innings than any other Northwoods League pitcher this year, and registering the fourth most strikeouts in the league this season.  Marshall product Isaac Ballou had an impressive resume as well. The speedy Stingers centerfielder leads the league in runs scored, is tied for the team lead in home runs, and has a Willmar-best 13 steals in 2010.
