WILLMAR, Minn. – Willmar scored six runs in the first two innings, which is all they needed in a 7-3 victory against Duluth Tuesday night at Bill Taunton Stadium.

Jason Leblebijian (Bradley) led the way with a 2-for-4 day at the plate with two RBIs. Jarid Scarafiotti (Stephen F. Austin) also had two hits in the game and scored a run. Garrett Borba (Pacific) and Mitch Rowan (Willamette) each had two runs, while Borba, Rowan, Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) and Mitch Delfino (California) each had had RBIs for the Stingers.

Dan Russell earned his second-straight victory against the Duluth Huskies after going seven innings for his second consecutive outing. Russell scattered nine hits to allow three runs while striking out three. Michael Shreves (Montevallo) and Kurt Spomer (Creighton) each pitched one scoreless inning of relief.

Willmar jumped out to an early lead with two runs on one hit in the first inning after two errors committed by the Duluth defense. The Stingers then added to their lead in the second with four runs on three hits, including bunt singles by Scarafiotti and Dettman. Willmar’s final run came in the seventh after Rowan hit a one-out double and scored when Leblebijian singled him home.

Willmar will play two more games at home against the Huskies, beginning with Wednesday’s game at 7:05 p.m. That game is sold out, meaning the next game with tickets available is Thursday night. That will be “Minute to Win It Night” where fans will have an opportunity to win prizes by competing in various contests throughout the game. First pitch is at 7:05 p.m. Gates open at 6 p.m.
