ROCHESTER, Minn. – Five Stingers have been chosen to represent the North Division in the 2011 Northwoods League All-Star Game on Mon., July 18, it was announced by the Northwoods League office Saturday.

Starting pitchers Tanner Banks (Salt Lake College) and Ricky Knapp (Florida Gulf Coast), first baseman Eduardo Gonzalez (Alcorn State), shortstop Jason Leblebijian (Bradley) and outfielder Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) were all selected to the 25-man roster as voted on by coaches and media members of the North Division. Coaches and media members could not vote for players from the team they manage or cover.

Banks and Knapp both had 3-0 records at the time of the voting process. Banks also had an ERA of 2.05, which was top-10 in the league. Knapp currently has a 2.86 ERA with 23 strikeouts in 22 innings pitched. Knapp will be the starting pitcher Saturday night against the St. Cloud River Bats at Bill Taunton Stadium at 7:05 p.m.

Gonzalez has a team-high batting average of .338 for those who have at least 60 at-bats for the Stingers. Leblebijian currently has a batting average of .263 and leads the team with 13 extra-base hits – six doubles, three triples and four home runs. Dwyer is hitting .282 for the year with three doubles, three home runs and a team-high 19 walks.  Leblebijian and Dwyer each have 35 hits and 18 RBIs this season, which are both tied for second most on the team.

The 17th Annual Northwoods League All-Star Game will be played July 18 at Witter Field in Wisconsin Rapids, Wis., at 7:05 p.m. Other festivities in Wisconsin Rapids will include a Home Run Derby on Sun., July 17, at 4:30 p.m.

The 2011 season is presented by Charter.
