THUNDER BAY, Ontario – With two outs in the ninth inning of a 6-6 game, Dillon Haupt lined his second double of the night to left-centerfield to drive home Hunter Dozier and Michael Suchy, providing the game-winning RBI in a 9-7 Stingers victory at Port Arthur Stadium Friday night.

After Thunder Bay tied the game in the bottom of the eighth, Dozier (Stephen F. Austin) and Suchy (Florida Gulf Coast) led off the final frame with back-to-back singles. Kenny Roberts (Alabama) laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance both runners into scoring position. Two batters later, Haupt (San Diego) came through in the clutch. The double marked his second of the game with both going to the wall in left-centerfield and scoring two runs each time.

Max Kuhn (Kentucky) followed with a single to bring home Haupt for the Stingers’ ninth run of the game. Kuhn has at least one RBI in seven-straight games, while Haupt finished the night 3-for-5 with four RBIs and two runs scored.

Brady Anderson (Florida Gulf Coast) earned his third victory of the season after entering the game with two outs in the eighth with the score tied and the go-ahead run on third base for Thunder Bay. Anderson is now 3-0 with 10 saves this season in 16 appearances.

Kyle Fischer (St. Cloud State) did not factor into the decision despite leaving the game with a 6-5 lead after six innings. Fischer, who struck out five and only walked one, allowed five runs on eight hits.

The Stingers gained the first lead of the game after scoring three runs on five hits in the sixth inning to overcome a 5-3 deficit. Haupt and Kuhn hit consecutive singles with one out in the inning, and Zach Benson (Stephen F. Austin) hit an RBI double to the centerfield wall to score Haupt, but Kuhn was thrown out at home for the second out. Forrestt Allday (Central Arkansas) walked for the 60th time, tying the Northwoods League record for most in a single season set by Ben Magsig of Alexandria last year.

Still trailing 5-4, Mitch Rowan (San Francisco) and Dozier hit back-to-back two-out RBI singles to put the Stingers in front, 6-5.

Originally down 3-0, the Stingers tied the game initially, 3-3, on a bases-loaded walk by Suchy in the fifth inning for his 52nd RBI of the year. Willmar’s first two runs came when Roberts and Corben Green (Louisiana Monroe) scored on Haupt’s first double of the evening.

Willmar continues its three-game series at Thunder Bay Saturday with a contest at 5:05 p.m. CT.
