ROCHESTER–For his second straight start, Charley Olson dazzled, throwing a complete game in the Stingers 6-2 win on Wednesday over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field.  In the second game of a three-game set, Olson allowed just two runs, only one of them earned, on eight hits, striking out three Honkers along the way.  With the win, Olson improves to 3-2 on the season and is the first Northwoods League pitcher to throw a complete game against the Honkers this season.

The difference in the ballgame was a huge top of the first for Willmar in which Rochester starter Joey Housey walked the first three batters of the game to load the bases for Stingers cleanup man Jordan Smith who started the bleeding in a four-run frame with a two-run single.  With the win, the Stingers improve to 3-1 on the season against the first place Honkers and are now 14-13 on the year, above .500 yet again in 2010.

Up next for Willmar, it’s the rubber match of this three-game series, followed by the finale of a four game road trip in a matchup between the Stingers and the Mankato Moondogs on Friday night.  For all your Stingers coverage, remember to log on to wctrib.com.  The 2010 season is presented by Charter.
