Stingers announce \”Barry\” as its new Mascot

(Willmar, MN) – At a press conference today, the Willmar Stingers announced its new team mascot presented by Lake Region Bank. The press conference held at the local bank unveiled “Barry” as the latest addition to the organization. As fans witnessed today, Barry is a tall yellow bear who plans to spend his summer evenings at the Bee Hive looking for honey and entertaining fans for many years to come.

Along with the announcement of the mascot, a new kid’s club was also announced. Barry’s Kid’s Club presented by Lake Region Bank will be available for kids 14 years of age and under beginning today.  This special membership will involve special events with Barry, a membership card and receive complimentary tickets on select Sunday games.

A new mascot, a kid’s club and on-line ticketing are a just a few of the new things fans can look forward to during the 2012 season. This year’s promotional schedule was also released today and fans will have the opportunity to enjoy more than 35 fun promotions at the ballpark this summer. 
 
The Stingers promotional schedule will be highlighted with four post-game fireworks shows and a special opening night appearance by former major leaguer Bret Saberhagen. Others to appear this summer at the ballpark will be Cartoon Network character Scooby Doo, a former Minnesota Twins player for Twins Night and Goldy from the University of Minnesota. 

The promotional schedule also includes giveaways for the first select number of fans that will take place before Stingers home games this season.  These items include nights such as full-sized wood baseball bats, a Jordan Smith Bobble head, replica jersey tee-shirts, baseball hats, ball night, piggy banks, pillow cases and a soft-sided lunch box.

The Stingers will also have several theme nights including a Summertime St. Patty’s Night where the players will wear green jerseys and green hats.  Other theme nights will be a Turn Back the Clock Night, Ag Night, Star Wars Night, Jimmy Buffett Night, Super Hero Night, Art in the Park and a Fan Appreciation Weekend to end the season.

These night as well as others will be available to attend by purchasing single game tickets beginning 10am on Tuesday, April 17th at willmarstingers.com or by visiting the Stingers Ticket Office located on the north end of Bill Taunton Stadium at Baker Field. Tickets can also be purchased over the phone by calling 320-222-2010.
