MANKATO–The Stingers came into Sunday’s game mired in a 20 inning scoreless streak, but it didn’t take long for Willmar to bust out of that, scoring four times in the first inning and eleven times over the first three frames in a 13-8 trouncing of the Mankato Moondogs at Franklin Rogers Park.

In the final meeting of the Stingers and Moondogs in 2010, Willmar tied the season series at five games apiece. On the mound for the 23-22 Stingers was Charley Olson who lasted three and a third innings in his eighth start of the season. After Olson left, five more Stingers took to the mound including Matt Collins, Wally Marciel, Daniel Zapata, and Jayson Huett. Offensively for Willmar, the night belonged to Carter Bell who had his best night of the year at the plate, going four for six with an RBI and two runs scored in his final appearance with the Stingers this year.

Next up for Willmar, it’s a well-deserved three games off for the All Star break followed by a five game road swing through Duluth, Brainerd, and Alexandria. We remind you to log on to wctrib.com for all your Stingers coverage. The 2010 season is presented by Charter.
