ST. CLOUD–In a lightning quick contest on Monday night at Joe Faber Field in St. Cloud, the Stingers dropped a 6-1 decision to the River Bats in a game that took just over two hours to complete.  The loss drops the Stingers to 20-19 overall, and back to .500 in the second half of 2010 at 2-2. St. Cloud starter Jason Wheeler was magnificent, going eight innings allowing just one earned run on three hits, striking out seven Stingers along the way.

The Stingers will be well represented at the 2010 All Star Game in Eau Claire coming up a week from Tuesday, as it was announced before Mondays game that Isaac Ballou, Jordan Smith, and Charley Olson will represent the North Division at the midsummer classic.  Olson got the start for Willmar on Monday, but came away with the loss after allowing five earned runs, including four in the first two innings, on nine hits over six and a third innings pitched. The lone Stingers run came in on a Jordan Smith RBI double in the fourth.

Next up for the Stingers, it’s a pair with the River Bats at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar beginning Tuesday at 7:05 pm. It’s Gold Out Night at the ballpark, so the first 500 fans through the gates will recieve a Stingers rally towel, and all fans are encouraged to wear gold t-shirts to the game.
