ROCHESTER–Tuesday was a beautiful night weather-wise in Rochester, but not so pretty on the scoreboard, as the Stingers dropped a lopsided 12-4 decision to the first-place Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field. Willmar surrendered a three run lead in the early frames, but stormed back to tie things in top of the sixth, thanks to a pair of doubles from Eduardo Gonzalez and Jordan Smith, an RBI knock from Joe Sever, and Mikey Reynolds run-scoring fielder’s choice.

Cedric Pomerlee got the start for the Stingers, losing his second game of 2010 after allowing seven runs on six hits and walking a half dozen Honkers in five plus innings pitched. After Pomerlee’s exit, Jayson Huett, Seth Spivack, and Sean Dwyer gave up a collective six more runs to a potent Rochester attack.

Next up for the Stingers, it’s two more in Rochester before heading to Mankato for Willmar’s first ever meeting with the Mankato Moondogs.  For all you Stingers coverage visit wctrib.com. The 2010 season is presented by Charter.
