WILLMAR, Minn. – Pat Stover (Santa Clara), Jason Leblebijian (Bradley) and Sean Dwyer (Florida Gulf Coast) all had solo home runs for the Willmar Stingers in a 7-3 victory against the Rochester Honkers at Bill Taunton Stadium Thursday night.

Willmar claimed the victory after a four-run eighth inning to break a 3-3 tie. Stover led off the frame with a double to left field and then was pinch-run for by Ryan Dettman (Oregon State). Following a Dwyer walk, and Mitch Delfino (California) reached on a throwing error by the pitcher Austin House that allowed Dettman to score from second base and give the Stingers the lead. Willmar added to its lead when Dwyer scored on a wild pitch and Mitch Rowan (Willamette) drove home two runs on a two-out single, bringing home Delfino and Garrett Borba (Pacific).

Tanner Banks (Salt Lake College) earned the victory after 2 1/3 innings out of the bullpen. He retired all seven batters he faced, including three by strikeout. Banks is now 4-1 with a 3.74 ERA for the season. Ben Burns (Daytona State College) had a quality start for the Stingers, allowing only one run on four hits in six innings.

The Stingers jumped out to an early 3-0 lead thanks to a solo home run by Stover in the second and solo blasts by Leblebijian and Dwyer in the third. Leblebijian now has six homers and a team-lead 29 RBIs this season.

Willmar will play Rochester at home again Friday night. It will be \”Baseball Trading Card Night\” presented by Bernick’s Pepsi. The first 500 fans will receive a full team set of Stingers baseball cards. It’s also Youth Baseball Night. Come out and celebrate the end of another fun summer of baseball. First pitch will be at 7:05 p.m. The gates will open at 6.
