WILLMAR, Minn. – Mitch Rowan (Willamette) had a standout performance at the plate for the Willmar Stingers with a 2-for-3 day with two walks, three stolen bases and three runs scored, but it was not enough as the Stingers dropped a back-and forth contest to the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers, 7-6 in 10 innings Tuesday night at Stewart C. Mills Field in Brainerd, Minn.

Willmar held a one-run lead twice during the contest, and two different times Brainerd led by two runs in the game, but each time the trailing team came back to tie the score until it was eventually deadlocked 6-6 at the end of nine innings.

All six runs for the Stingers came from the top third of the batting order. In addition to Rowan’s three scores, Jason Leblebijian (Bradley) went 2-for-5 with an RBI and a run, while Eduardo Gonzalez (Alcorn State) was 1-for-4 with an RBI and two runs. Mitch Delfino (California) had three RBIs in the game with two hits in five at-bats.

Willmar will conclude its three-game road trip in Brainerd Wednesday night at 7:05 p.m. The Stingers will return home Thursday night for “Once Upon a Time Night” featuring a variety of fairy tale princesses. The princesses will be on hand to throw out the first pitch and take photos with kids. Thursday night’s game will begin at 7:05 p.m.
