ROCHESTER–One night removed from a crisp 6-2 victory for the Stingers, Willmar’s offense continued to hum along, racking up fifteen hits in a convincing 10-4 win over the Rochester Honkers at Mayo Field on Thursday night.  With the win, the Stingers improved to 15-13 on the year, and have beaten the Honkers in four of the teams’ five meetings this season.  Thursday marked the first time that the now second-place Honkers have dropped a three game series in 2010.

It was a balanced effort offensively for Willmar, as only two Stingers failed to register at least one hit.  Leading the charge was rightfielder Jordan Smith.  His five for five night netted him two more RBI’s to pad his team lead in that category and he scored three runs.  Eduardo Gonzalez was also impressive going three for five with a pair of doubles, two RBI’s and three runs of his own.  David Carroll was solid on the mound again for Willmar netting his first win of 2010 thanks to six and one third innings of four run, seven hit ball.

Next up for the Stingers, it’s the first ever matchup with the Mankato Moondogs in the finale of a four game road swing.  You can catch all the action starting at 6:55 with the Print Masters of Willmar Stingers Pregame Report on the Stingers Radio Network.  For all your Stingers coverage, remember to log on to wctrib.com.  The 2010 season is presented by Charter.
