ALEXANDRIA–On a humid night in Alexandria the Stingers bats were hot early, scoring three runs in the second inning and four more in the fourth to beat the Alexandria Beetles 7-3 Monday at Knute Nelson Memorial Park.  In the first of a two game series, Willmar got just an inning from starter Cedric Pomerlee, but relied on a solid three innings from Michael Jahns in relief, enough to earn the Northwestern Wildcat his third win of the season.

The Stingers got another big night out of Andrew Haake who made his fourth start of the season at catcher on Monday.  A night after hitting a solo home run, Haake was three for four with two doubles, a single, and three RBI’s to become the sixth Stinger hitter with double digit runs driven in.  Joining Haake in that club was Zach Rowles, who cleared the bases for a three run double in the third inning.  The biggest offensive night went to Sean Dwyer however, as the Willmar first baseman went four for five.

Next up for the Stingers, it’s one more with Alexandria on Tuesday before returning home to Bill Taunton Stadium for a pair of games with the Mankato Moondogs on July 7th and 8th.  For tickets, call the Stingers ticket office at 320-222-2010 or log on to willmarstingers.com for more information.  We remind you to check out wctrib.com for all your Stingers coverage.
