BRAINERD, Minn. – Five Stingers had multi-hit games, while Dan Russell (Western Illinois) went 7 1/3 innings to earn the victory in a 5-3 win over the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers Monday night at Stewart C. Mills Field in Brainerd, Minn.

Russell had his longest outing of the season, scattering seven hits while allowing two runs in 7 1/3 innings. Russell struck out three and did not walk a single batter. Thomas Taylor (Kansas) made his first relief appearance of the season and pitched the final 1 2/3 innings to earn a save. Taylor struck out three and allowed one run.

Mitch Rowan (Willamette) and John Haberman (Pacific) led the offensive attack with three hits each. Rowan scored a run, while Haberman had an RBI single in the ninth. Jason Leblebijian (Bradley), Eduardo Gonzalez (Alcorn State) and Mitch Delfino (California) added two hits apiece. Gonzalez had an RBI and a double. Delfino also had a double with two RBIs and a run scored, while Leblebijian scored a run after being hit by a pitch.

Willmar will play Brainerd again Tuesday night at 7 p.m. Scott Lieser (St. Cloud State) will start the game for the Stingers.
