MANKATO–In the second of two games at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato, the Stingers snapped a four game losing streak with an authoritative 13-4 win over the Mankato Moondogs on Saturday night.  With the win, the Stingers bumped themselves back over the .500 mark on the season at 19-18, and are now 1-1 in the second half of their inaugural Northwoods League season.

The star of the night at the plate for Willmar was centerfielder Isaac Ballou.  The Marshall freshman clubbed a monstrous two-run homer to right in the fourth inning and added two more RBI’s in the ninth on his second triple of the season.  On the mound for the Stingers, Roy Metter was nearly spotless in his fourth start of the season, allowing just one unearned run on six hits over six innings to earn the win.  Michael Jahns threw three solid innings in relief to notch his first save of 2010.

Next up for the Stingers it’s the fifth straight matchup with the Moondogs, this time back at Bill Taunton Stadium in Willmar on Sunday at 6:05 pm.  For tickets, call 320-222-2010 or visit willmarstingers.com for more information.  For all your Stingers coverage, log on to wctrib.com.
