Madison, Wisc.— Dan Motl is supposed to be the catalyst as the leadoff man in the order, and that's exactly what he did Friday night against the Mallards.

Motl got on base on four different occasions and scored three times to help spur the Stingers to a 5-1 victory over South Division leader Madison.

Motl's impressive night came in a game when his teammate from Minnesota Tyler Hanson also had an excellent outing on the mound. Hanson went 5 2/3 scoreless innings for the Stingers with four strikeouts to make sure the offense was more than enough.

Motl started things off for that Stingers offense right away in the first inning when he drew a leadoff walk. He came around to score two batters later when Storm Wilson singled him home to make it 1-0. Then two innings later, Motl was back at it. He singled this time and scored later in the third to make it a 2-0 Stingers lead.

Motl would lead off the fifth inning with another walk, as he scored along with Sean Beesley to give Hanson and the rest of the Stingers pitching staff more than enough of a cushion. Just for good measure, Motl doubled home Billy Quirke in the sixth to add to his already impressive night.

The Stingers bullpen shined the rest of the way with 3 1/3 strong innings combined between Davis Adkins and Brady Anderson.
