ROCHESTER, Minn. – The Stingers scored a total of 21 runs in two games en route to their road sweep of the Honkers.

Today, it was 10 total, and they were coupled with another spectacular performance by Polo Portela on the mound.

The Stingers got on the board first by scoring a run in the second inning. Marc Coffers (FGCU) led off the inning with a double and was brought around moments later by Nate Sterijevski's (Bethune-Cookman) RBI single.

More production then came in the sixth inning when Nolan Bumstead (CS-Northridge) and Danny Rodriguez (Bethune-Cookman) both went deep. It was both Bumstead and Rodriguez's third of the year.

After those home runs, the Stingers went up 4-0 over the Honkers.

Meanwhile, Polo Portela (Sac City) rambled off another six innings of scoreless pitching to add to his season resume. After today's start, he has now pitched 32 2/3 innings this year and has not given up an earned run.

The Stingers then added to to their lead in the eighth inning when Sterijevski drove in RBIs two and three of the day.

Their day at the plate was then capped off with four runs in the ninth. They finished ahead 10-1 at Mayo Field.
