Share the Glove: Stingers Seek $2,500 Grant Applications
One area baseball team will receive brand new Rawlings equipment
Willmar, Minn. – The Willmar Stingers are excited to announce that the organization will be accepting applications for a grant, courtesy of the Northwoods League Foundation. The Northwoods League’s newest program, entitled, “Share the Glove” , has recently been announced and is currently available to fans in all Northwoods League markets.
In celebration of the Northwoods League’s 25th season, the Northwoods League Foundation is donating $50,000 in youth Rawlings baseball and softball equipment through 20 grants in each of the affiliated markets.
“Share the Glove is an exciting opportunity for the Foundation to support youth organizations throughout our communities during the highly visible celebration of the Northwoods League’s 25th anniversary,” said Gary Hoover, Northwoods League Foundation Secretary. “We not only have the chance to impact those communities where the Northwoods League operates, but to foster a love and appreciation for the games of baseball and softball through participation.”
What is the grant?
The grant is a standardized set of Rawlings equipment, sized for youth ages 9-12. There will be ten (10) baseball grants and ten (10) softball grants awarded. Willmar has been chosen to award one of the baseball grants for the 2018 season.
Who is eligible to receive the grant?
The following criteria must be met in order to be eligible to receive the grant:
- Organization qualifies as a 501(c)(3) organization, school or school-based program, or community-based organization as defined under US IRC section 501(c)(3);
- Organization is not an individual, for-profit business, political, or religious organization;
- Organization provides opportunities for kids ages 9-12 to play baseball or softball within a community that is served by a Northwoods League affiliate.
How will grant applications be accepted and awarded?
The Stingers organization will be accepting grant applications from organizations within our community. To download an application, click here: Share the Glove Grant Application. Grant recipients will be notified in mid-May, ahead of the Stingers Home Opener scheduled for May 29th.
