Willmar, Minn. –   The Willmar Stingers kick off their ninth season of play in the Northwoods League at 7:05pm on Tuesday at Bill Taunton Stadium. To open the 2018 season, the Stingers will host a pair of two-game series against the St. Cloud Rox and Thunder Bay Border Cats.

The opening home stand will feature an appearance by former Minnesota Twins pitcher and World Series Champion Scott Erickson and a post-game fireworks show on Tuesday. On Wednesday, area robotics teams will be highlighted and demonstrate their projects.

Thursday, May 31, a new series begins with the Thunder Bay Border Cats. That night, the first 250 families will receive a book for Books and Baseball Night. To wrap up the opening home stand, Stingers fans will have the opportunity to pick up a new baseball cap courtesy of Heritage Bank & Pioneer Heritage Insurance (1st 300 fans).

Within the last few weeks, the Stingers front office and coaching staff have worked to finalize the 30-man roster for the 2018 season. Each player comes to Willmar from schools around the country to enhance their skills in one of the premier summer collegiate leagues. To view the full roster, click here.
